Oxford Twilight
“Oxford Twilight” is a concept capsule collection that I’ve designed as my entry to the CROPS competition, a fashion design contest for students and recent graduates organized by Feeric Fashion Week, in collaboration with NEPI Rockcastle. The brief asked participants to submit 4 to 10 design sketches, reflecting a theme inspired by the cycles of nature, earthy tones, and elevated functionality. The sketches had to be integrated in a thought process that included: artistic sketches on a human figure together with technical sketches for each garment. I was lucky enough to have one of my designs selected as a winner, a design that went on to be produced and presented in an exposition that took place at a major shopping center in Bucharest.

Step into the world of "Oxford Twilight," where timeless academia meets modern sophistication. This Fall/Winter 2024 collection reimagines office wear through the lens of the dark academia aesthetic, drawing inspiration from the shadowy halls of prestigious universities and the scholarly charm of vintage fashion.
Rich, moody hues dominate the palette- muted browns, deep burgundy reds, and gleaming golds come together to create a look that feels both intellectual and luxurious. The juxtaposition of classic wool tweeds in checkered patterns with the unexpected shimmer of gold sequined fabric and leopard prints reflects a balance between tradition and modernity, creating an effortlessly chic ensemble for the contemporary working woman.
In a nod to the passage of time and the beauty of well- worn garments, hand-stitched patches of contrasting tweeds in rhombus shapes are sewn onto various pieces, evoking the nostalgic charm of mending and repair. Inspired by traditional sweaters knitted with this design, these patches lend a touch of heritage craftsmanship, reinforcing the collection's connection to dark academia's vintage aesthetic. The raw edges and hand stitches used to attach these patches are deliberate, adding a DIY, patchwork feel to the collection that suggests a sense of personal history and wear.
Silhouettes are sharp yet relaxed, designed for those who command a room with quiet confidence. Oversized coats drape over structured shirts and tailored pencil skirts paired with sharp vests, offering a powerful yet understated look. The pleated trousers add an element of refined comfort, while the collection's clean lines and attention to detail make it ideal for the office environment. Each piece is tailored for versatility-perfect for moving seamlessly from day to night, or from the boardroom to a literary café.
"Oxford Twilight" is an ode to the thinker, the dreamer, and the professional, merging academic nostalgia with modern-day elegance. The collection's patchwork elements and raw-edged detailing tell a story of craftsmanship, individuality, and timeless style, speaking to both intellect and creative expression.
